I like the New Year. I like the challenge of looking over how to improve in a variety of areas. I like to set goals. Reaching those goals happens, on occasion. This year I give you my “top ten” goals to achieve: (in no particular order)
- Read a book every two weeks. (check the next post for my list of 26 books)
- Take a family vacation that lasts at least one week. (Haven’t done that since 2003)
- Take one day a month and spend time with my kids. (Each child gets unrestricted time with Dad, once a month)
- Take my kids out on their birthdays for breakfast or lunch. (My wife gets a dinner date and perhaps an overnight stay)
- Establish and insist on weekly date nights with my wife. (They’re on the calendar – your event will have to wait)
- Completely do away with drinking soda pop. (I’ve pretty much done this, but this year I’m quitting for good)
- Increase the time spent reading, studying and praying. (Still working on making this measurable)
- Join and continue in a Men’s Accountability group. (Thursday evenings are already blocked out for this purpose)
- Start and maintain a Bible study for teen guys in our youth group.
- Plan “sabbatical” days once a month for concentrated reading and study
- (bonus) Blog at least once a week. (Don’t know if I can handle that kind of pressure)
So, that’s part of my list and life. Care to share your goals / resolutions?
