    • The idolatry of celebrity worship: Giving to man what rightly belongs to God. November 29, 2009
Paul Proctor has written a much needed piece on the idolatry of celebrity worship, something that has taken our culture by storm. Here’s a quote from the article: Under their exploited influence, our envy and infatuation often bypasses logic, [...]

Within fifty years of the death of the last of the apostles, so far as we can now learn, the Gospel of God’s grace almost ceased to be preached. Instead of evangelizing, the preachers of the second and third centuries gave themselves to philosophizing. Metaphysics took the place of the simplicity of the Gospel. Then, [...]

    • The Two Trees November 28, 2009
(From: Discernment Research Group at Herescope) Meditation that is not founded upon the Word of God, like a labyrinth, is a maze that ultimately ends up in futility, going nowhere but endless spirals. Those who have practiced Eastern-style meditation, with its emptying of the mind and/or visualization (imagery), often do so because they desire to acquire pea […]

    • The Madness of the Season November 28, 2009
I work part time at a Wal-mart store in my area. This works out well for me as I take classes during the week. Sales are consistently down {when compared to last year’s sales} at this particular store, due to the depressed area in which I live {rural mid-Illinois}, as well as the economic downturn. As everyone [...]

  1. I’m interested in entering your “Bible Give-Away”. While I’m basically a KJP guy, I’ve started broadening my horizons in my Bible reading. Last year I read through the 1599 Geneva Bible (with original footnotes) published by Tolle Lege Press. this year I’d like to do the same with an ESV.

Thank you for your consideration. BTW, I added your blog to my favorites and like what I see so far.

  2. Only one reason how this could help me? Well, then, I would be better prepared to not only engage the community in which I live with the gospel; but would be able to do so while presenting a scripturally historical backdrop that is accurate and sound. Thanks for the opportunity to know about this offer.

  3. I saw your ad for this giveaway on the FM Forum, where I am the Administrator. I recently purchased a parallel bible KJV, NIV, NASB and Living, and I would like to augment my understanding of the word with another transaltion. The Word of God is really so rich, the nuances continue to amaze me!

Be Blessed, and thank you for the opportunity.

I have bookmarked this site, and look forward to exploring it and learning.

  4. Saw this contest from the Family Man website and thought I would enter.

I could use this bible because I am a Sunday School teacher, a Children’s Church Minister, the Computer Administrator and Media Minister at my church and with this bible, I could bring all these ministries together in harmony with one another and glorify God in all that I do. Thanks for the offer!

  5. I’d like to enter your contest. I saw the link via Family Man’s site. Yeah…I’m not a MAN, but I love to visit his site anyhow. lol! This Bible would make a great resource for teaching my daughters from the Bible and also for their own study for the upcoming Bible Bee. Also, hopefully my hubby will dig into it some and want to do some teaching of his own (up to him though…lol!). Thanks for the opportunity to enter though! God bless!

  6. I would like to enter your contest. I am co-moderator of an online Bible study for parents through our daughters’ virtual public school. This study Bible would be a great resource as we go through the study on “The Power of a Praying Parent”. Thanks so much!!

I enjoy getting your newsletter and passing it on to my husband–we get it on our personal email rather than he getting it at work. May God continue to richly bless your ministry for Him!!

  7. My church is doing 21 days of prayer and fasting. One of the nights my pastor said randomly, that someone in here needs to find a version fit for you. I thought about how that did not apply to me, but then how it could because I was not really set on one version. For me, I fell into the KJV trap. I love the KJV but my mind does not. After two years of being “saved” and well into the KJV, I finally picked up another version, NLT. Sure it was easy to read, but during the fast at my church, my pastor read something and as I was following along in my NLT, and I was disappointed by the wording. I listen to podcasts a lot, and my two favorite preachers both adore the ESV. So I was reading, researching and loving this version. I don’t have a ESV study bible and I can’t afford one, I am 26 years old married with two kids, loving it, its so amazing, but I can’t afford it. So I typed in google “free ESV study bible and it gave me a link which lead me to this.

  8. If God wants me to have it. He will see fit to have you choose me as the winner and speak to me through his words.

  9. I’m a chaplain with Truckstop Ministries, Inc., sharing the gospel with truckers with a variety of backgrounds at truckstops in Florida. The ministry has chapels located throughout the U.S. After reviewing the ESV, I think this will be an invaluable resource in preparing messages, gladly giving all praise honor andglory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
