Thanks to the generosity of some friends this past Christmas, Angie and I were able to go to the Boathouse restaurant in Winona Lake, IN for lunch today. The Boathouse is a favorite restaurant of ours and we love to eat there when possible. Today we set a late lunch date and braved the snowy roads to enjoy a very peaceful meal.
Angie ordered her favorite soup: Chicken Tortilla followed by an appetizer for entree, crab cakes. I ordered the Capellini Pomordo, which is: angel hair pasta tossed with shrimp, fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, scallions and olives. I preceded the entree with a garden salad with ranch on the side. This lunch portion was just the perfect amount of food! The shrimp were firm and tasty and the tomatoes with herbs made the pasta zing. We even ended up ordering an entire loaf of their fabulous bread to take home with us. Menu here.
To those who may not have tried dining at the Boathouse, I wholeheartedly recommend it! The servers and hosts are always very gracious, the service quick and done well, and the atmosphere always one where a conversation can be had without distraction.
You can read further reviews of the Boathouse here. Winona Lake is home to Grace College and Seminary, Billy Sunday’s home and museum, the Village at Winona (which has a wonderful variety of shops), and many other attractions around the lake itself.
